Our extensive concert programme reflects the origins of the Association and has been a key part of our annual programme for 96 years.
Staged by teams of professional entertainers at ex-service care homes up and down the country, our concerts bring joy, fun and happiness to thousands of veterans who are unable to get out and about. These concerts are something to which the elderly and often very frail residents do look forward and are a highlight in their calendars.
Communal singing, feet tapping, clapping, broad smiles and even dancing demonstrate the huge enjoyment the residents gain from these happy occasions. Our concerts also enable veterans to recall cherished memories and help to show them that they are not forgotten.
The enthusiasm, dedication and care shown by our performers make such a difference to the lives of the residents and there is little doubt that these concerts provide very tangible social, psychological and general health benefits.
In addition, for veterans not in care homes and who are able to get out and about, we arrange afternoon tea concerts in larger venues such as Phyllis Court in Henley-on-Thames and the Royal Star & Garter Home in Surbiton.
